This Week's Fishing Blog

Wow, what a winter. A little slower than usual at the Lake of the Ozarks... something I'll blame slightly on the economy and slightly on the colder than average weather. Never the less, I expect this season to be exceptionally busy for fishing. With the economy picking up, combined with the golf oil fiasco, I expect a lot of fishermen and women to descend on The Lake Of The Ozarks. So, what to expect? First off, if you're coming for a weekend, expect a lot of boaters! Most of them pulling rafts, skiers or driving like they stole the thing. So number one, be careful. Always be alert. I know it's important to keep your eye on that line, but your safety comes first, so always pay attention to other boaters and where you are on the lake. If you're in a small bass boat, you may want to stay out of the middle of the lake. There are a lot of large boats that with their wake can really throw off your fishing - especially in mid cast when your boat gets socked by the wake of a 50 footer doing 30mph... trust me, you better have darned good balance if that happens. So, now - where to fish? What's biting? The waters are getting warm, and the lake levels are fairly high, so a lot of the coves, near docks and brush are good right now. I'm hitting the lake again this weekend and will have a complete report on whats hot, whats biting and what baits working come Monday. Until then, please feel free to use the contact forum to ask any questions you may have. We always have fishermen on the water willing to share their input - just ask! Happy fishing and be safe!

Another week - wow! What a beautiful weekend for fishing at Lake of the Ozarks. While out on the water this weekend I ran into tons of Bass fishers as they competed in the Bassmasters tournament at Lake of the Ozarks. The big boys are really biting this week and this past weekend. Current lake level at Lake of the Ozarks is 658.59 feet and -.41. Water temp was hovering around 75 degree's over the weekend. Natural colors working good for the big bass - lots of fish coming up a little higher this week. Try around the docks this week if you're heading up to the lake. Look for some brush areas and you're sure to catch. As always, good luck and be safe out on the water. Remember, this blog is just suggestions! We want this to be easy for the beginner fisherman and helpful for the pro's! If you have any questions please feel free to contact us using our contact forum! Have a great week and Happy Fishing! If it aint fun, it aint fishin'!!!

Great fishing weather in the Ozarks this past weekend. Also a great weekend for boat racing too! Whether you were up for the boat races, the big fishing tournament or just for fun, it was a great weekend to be out on the water. Of course the Bass Fishing League two day tournament on the Lake summed up Sunday with the winner fetching 10 bass weighing a little over 30lbs. A Holts Summit man was the winner of the tournament and took home over $5,000. It was a great time and we hope that you also had great luck on the water! This week promises some good weather and great fishing. As always, if you have any questions please use the contact us section and send us an email. We'd be glad to help in any way we can! Have a great day and seeya on the water!

It's offically fall. The Crappie are biting and some of the fish are starting to come to the top. Fish are biting well in the Niangua arm still and you can find some good fishing in some of the coves near Linn Creek Cove. Slab Busters are working great and the water has been calm. Some big tournaments coming up at Lake of The Ozarks and we had Bike Week last weekend. Be careful on the roads and on the water and happy fishing! Please feel free to send us an email if you have any questions. If we don't know the answer, we'll forward you on to someone who does! Thanks for checking us out today!

Are you ready for some football!!??? Or.... Fishing!? It's cooling down a bit and that has brought the fish to the top of the water. Great fishing the last few weeks on Lake Of The Ozarks. Niangua arm is seeing a lot of action. Bring your Slab Busters. Crappie are biting a lot. Be sure to try your luck below the dam as well. It's been great fishing recently on the lake and boat traffic has calmed down a bit. Get out on the water soon while the fishing is good. As for me, it's back to the lake! Good luck!

Well... another weekend on the water has gone by.. but I guess it's a good thing weekends come every 5 days! Fishing was good this weekend. The lake was a little more crowded than average for this year. Although it was actually more like a regular weekend crowd for this time last year. If you have been fishing in tournaments recently, you know about the rash of theft that has been happening. Theives stealing fishing equipment, electronics and other belongings out of the trucks and trailers of those out on the lake. Good news, the Missouri State Water Patrol announced that they had found the tens of thousands of dollars in stolen items. The Water Patrol says they're in the process of getting in touch with the rightful owners of the equipment. So if you had property stolen during a fishing tournament at the Lake, or any other Missouri Lake, you may want to get in touch with the Water Patrol. Also, a friendly reminder to lock up your equipment, mark all of your equipment with your name and information & document your serial numbers on all electronics and equipment. With that said - Crappie is still biting well on slab busters. Good luck and happy fishing!!

Forgot to ad about Crappie - the little fellers are starting to bite below the bagnell dam in Osage river on Slab Busters and in Niangua arm on jigs in the brush. The hot weather has kept Crappie bites slow, but this cooler weather recently might help over the next couple of weeks. Look at the top water in the early morning and late evening. Good luck and be safe!

Just got back from a succesful fishing day! Bass fishing on the lake of the Ozarks is starting to pick up with the best bite at night in the brush. Related lures such as 10 inch power worm, 7 inch power worm, brushhogs and shakey head worms. The best colors right now are blueflek, red shad, plum and tequila sunrise. DD22 Crankbaits are still working as well. Black spinnerbaits with large colorado blades slow rolled are also working well. Stay safe and keep boat lights on at night and remember the 30mpg speed limit at dark!!! Good luck and feel free to contact us with any questions or comments!

Well fishing is still a little dangerous today if you're thinking about heading out on the boat. Heavy rains across the Ozarks makes for some choppy waters as well as lots of debris such as logs, branches and trees - not to mention other trash and debris. But - that aside, there have been quite some record setting fish being brought in through-out the state. Will you be next? Get out on the lake this weekend and then be sure to send us a photo of your catch. Email it to us by clicking here.

Welcome! Well we've had a lot of rain and storms in the Ozarks this past week. Which if you're headed out onto the Lake for some fishing you might want to use a lot of extra caution. Fishing is dangerous this week as there is a lot of debris in the lake, such as logs, branches and in some cases, whole trees! I know a little bit of rain and storms won't stop a lot of us from throwing in a line, but please use extra caution this week. Waters and debris should be better by the end of the week, so this weekend you can keep your fishing plans. As always, be safe and happy fishing!
